Switching to Safari?

Despite applying all kind of tricks to speed up my Firefox, I have to temporary give up on it, and search for alternatives.

Firefox memory consumption

I’m trying Safari now, and here are some things I can’t live without:

  • support for quick searches in address bar. Luckly, SafariSIA does what I want, but not as easily as the built-in feature from Firefox which takes only 2 seconds to set-up.
  • to switch between tabs with keys (Shift-arrows in my case).
  • automatic spell-checker in any form. It’s extremely useful, I’m quite addicted to it :).
  • to load the pages in a decent time, 30 seconds in Firefox is just too much..
  • to work well even when I have 50 opened tabs.
  • to have a way to restore the sessions in case of an unexpected failure. It’s not rocket science and every browser should have it. [update: ForgetMeNot is a plugin which saves the current session]
  • search text in page without using a 2 key shortcut. Ideally “/” like in vi, if possible. [update: there is a SIMP plugin which finds when you type”]

Am I asking for too much? :P
